The longest-running annual index of its kind, ranking the country’s top 100 fast-growth potential new businesses launched in the last three years, has been announced today. Run by Startups.co.uk and sponsored by global marketing company DCMN, it offers a diverse showcase of start-ups that demonstrate innovation, solid financials, economic impact, and the ability to scale.
This year’s index offers up a host of encouraging figures for the growth potential of the country’s start-ups; collectively the index boasts an average annual turnover of £1.5m, employing an average of 20 staff, with more than £270m funding raised. Lean start-up success stories also feature; 14 start-ups have grown without any external investment while 13 businesses have achieved fast-growth with 5 employees or less.
The 2018 ranking demonstrates the increasing diversity of entrepreneurship in the UK with the youngest founders in the index aged just 24, six founders aged 50 and over, and 30 of the 100 businesses started by female founders. This year’s winners join an exclusive club of alumni companies which includes BrewDog, Moshi Monsters, PROPERCORN, Seedrs, Purplebricks, LendInvest, Deliveroo, onefinestay, and many more esteemed businesses.
